Like most posts in the Department of France, Post GR06, Stuttgart, Germany, has seen COVID disrupt most of our plans this past year. As it approached the holidays, we were faced with the reality that they would be unable to gather socially and celebrate their comradeship. Seeking an alternative way to help keep our post connected, we chose to do a service project. instead.

The Patch Chapel carried a somber note of remembrance as dozens of community members participated in a Memorial Day ceremony, May 27, to honor and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military.

USAG Stuttgart welcomed retired U.S. military personnel from all services to its annual Retiree Appreciation Day held on October 25 at Patch Barracks. The event brought together a variety of different agencies and organizations to provide information and services under one roof, with participants ranging from the Veterans Administration to the American Legion.

As gray storm clouds moved ominously over the Patch Barracks Chapel ahead of Memorial Day, the message from the observance inside was clear: when reflecting on the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for their country, focus on their stories—not statistics.
